Giving thanks to our local firefighters
We’re big believers in being an active part of our community and are always on the lookout for ways to give back to awesome causes, including those that support our U.S. men and women in service. When we recently learned there’s an International Firefighter’s Day (IFFD), we felt a calling to stop in our tracks and take time to give thanks and honor the amazing men and women who help protect us here in SoCal.
Celebrated annually on May 4, the feast day of St. Florian, the patron saint of firefighters, IFFD was established in 1999 to remind people across the world to recognize and honor the sacrifices firefighters make to ensure their local communities and environments are as safe as possible.
To do our part to honor and celebrate our local firefighters, we visited 40 firehouse stations from LA to Santa Barbara on May 3-4, dropping off thank you packages and some ProYo High Protein Frozen Yogurts. The firehouse crews were typically surprised to see us, and many didn’t even know there was a day to celebrate them–all the more reason to celebrate and give thanks to these amazing heroes!
We know our SoCal firefighters are challenged daily not only to fight fires small to large, but also to protect our communities and environment. We hope this small token of our gratitude on IFFD helps draw attention to the critical services these men and women provide and that many of us take for granted.
