Banana Almond Butter Protein Smoothie by Ask the Gluten Free Chef

We’ve been hitting the road recently to share ProYo with our gluten-free friends across the U.S. at various Gluten Free & Allergen Friendly Expos. Part of the adventure is getting to meet awesome bloggers who are helping inspire the gluten-free community with recipe ideas. We were pumped to meet Chef Calvin Eaton at the recent GFAF Expo in New Jersey. Not only does Calvin create delicious gluten-free recipes, he also inspires the next generation of gluten-free eaters through cooking classes. We knew we had to challenge Chef Calvin to create something delightful with our ProYo that would satisfy the gluten-free eater of any age, and he did not disappoint with this Banana Almond Butter Protein Smoothie. This smoothie is packed with protein, fun flavor and a hint of sweetness to help you power through even the most ambitious day, whether you’re 10 or 60. We love Calvin’s twist on the recipe, too – using the Vanilla ProYo High Protein Frozen Yogurt, and some blueberries or strawberries, to make a PB&J smoothie. How can you go wrong?

Here is the recipe:

Ingredients: 

– 1 tube (4oz) of Dutch Chocolate High Protein Frozen Yogurt*

– 3/4 cup Blue Diamond Unsweetened Almond Breeze

– 2 teaspoons Justin’s Almond Butter (any variety)

– 1 teaspoon raw honey

– pinch of sea salt

– 1 medium frozen banana, peeled and cut into 6 event pieces

Instructions: 

– Add all ingredients into a blender in the order listed above and process until smooth
– Add more liquid if needed to blend
– Transfer to a serving glass with ice
– Drink immediately and smile!
*Substitute with Banana Vanilla ProYo High Protein Frozen Yogurt and added in a small handful of blueberries or strawberries for a PB&J twist!
